Syzygium ist eine Pflanzengattung innerhalb der Familie der Myrtengewächse (Myrtaceae). Die in Mitteleuropa bekannteste Art ist die Gewürznelke (Syzygium aromaticum).

Auch Eugenia-Arten sind eine Gattung der Myrtengewächse, hier kommt es zu Abgrenzungsproblemen, die sich auch in der Bezeichnung auf Briefmarken teilweise zeigt.
